Brief One: Fairy Circles.
I chose to re-write Rapunzel for this project, almost to the point it almost doesn’t resemble the original story but seeing as there are so many different variations of every fairy tale depending on how old they are and where they come from I don’t feel too bad about it.
I stuck to what materials I could work well with in this project; paper cut outs, mounted on acrylic paper to give a different texture, plus good old classic black and white. Rapunzel is really a quite grim story even though its considered a kids story I didn’t want anything to light and fluffy. Quite a few images are purely symbolic and contains themes of addiction, vanity and madness.
